Social Sunday

After the X-mas holiday, friends starts to find their way back to good ol' Malmö again. What better than grabbing a beer at the local watering hole and catch up.

Seagull

Santa (my brother) was good to me this year. He got me 5 rolls of very nice 120 mm film. I'm now thinking of what I'm going to shoot. I'm thinking maybe a series of portraits since the film is very good at capturing skin tones. And maybe a new blog also only for my Seagull images...

This Seagull 4B camera I bought from my photography teacher way back in '96. Haven't used it that much. Don't know why... I think I'm a bit afraid of it.

X-mas '09

The thing I love about our small family is that it has always room for more. This year we where joined by the Steen brothers, Johan and Oscar. Their parents came down on Christmas day but Christmas eve they spent with us.

It's not Christmas without a tree... This year decorated with red and silver balls, candy canes and Hello Kitty-ornaments.

Iris, the photographer. I see great things in her future. I think a camera is in her stocking next year!

And yesterday, my iPhone started to act up in majorly wierd way. Maybe it's reacting to it's owners hard working stomach?

Champagne

What can be more glamourous than a pyramid of champagne glasses? With the holidays fast approaching, what could be more festive?

I've been looking everywhere for this kind of glass but, alas, no suck luck...

Week 49

So what's a girl supposted to do when the weather is getting colder, the wind is picking up and the rain starts to pour? After a long work week you curl up on the sofa watching a good movie, in my case "Harry Brown" starring Michael Caine. On Saturday night, you join up with a friend at Carib Kreol for drinks.

A taste of paradise! This Pina Colada didn't take long to devour! We gulped down two each before we headed of to our dinner reservation with the bartenders words echoing:"Can you stand up straight?"
Dinner took place at BELLE epoque. I'd tried their food before. The bad picture doesn't make justice for the good food.

I had the "oxkind" and is was delicious! I really like the fact that the chef changes up the menu every week and tries to keep it seasonal. It keeps the people coming back!

The search for true classics pt.3

If I ever get a car (or a licence for that matter) it would be this one! A 1964 cream coloured Triumph Spitfire. Five seperate Spitfire were sold during the the production run between 1962-80 but this is the coolest, the Spitfire Mark I.

Going Americana

I have always been a bit sceptical towards american food but with the help of another season of Top Chef and the blogs of V and Niblet, things have changed. I now realise the glory that is American food. Amongst my new favorite dishes are: Mac n' Cheese, creamed corn and bread puddings (especially the one containing chocolate).

The Stripe

One of my favourite patterns of all times is the Breton Stripe. The Breton shirt was officially created by the 27th March 1858 Act which introduced this blue and white striped knitted shirt in the uniform list of the French seaman.
It was said that this stripe allowed to locate more easily a man fallen into the sea. Nevertheless I thought it would be fun to pay tribute to the Stripe for a whole week. I don't know how many of my co-workers noticed it...

Monday Top: Marimekko, jeans: Monki

Tuesday Dress: Permanent Vacation

Wednesday Top: Made in the shade, jeans: Cheap Monday

Thursday Top & Chinos: Gina Tricot

Friday Top: Polarn o Pyret, skirt: Zara

So, what should my next theme-week be about?

Holidays are coming

I know it's a bit early but I simply had to post this video. There isn't much that gets me in a Christmas mood more than this commersial. They say the sale of Coca Cola increases over Christmas. In the land of Julmust, it's stiff competition.

Beer Geek

Yesterday, my brother, Jonas and myself went to Systembolaget for their Top 10 beer-tasting event. It was great. We tried 10 different beers, some was in stock at Systembolaget, others was not.

One of my favourites was this ale (Gouden Carolus) from Belgium. Luckely, Systembolaget sells it. My other favourite was also an Ale, but from the UK (not available at bolaget). After the tasting we ventured out in to the streets of a stormy Malmö with a new found love of beer. This won't be the last beer tasting event I attend, belive me!

Shrimpsandwich

The word of a massive shrimp sandwich had spread around the office like a wild fire so me and Sanna decided to crash the projectleaders after work at Grand Hotel in Lund.

And it was massive! And this is the small one!! After the sandwich and a couple of Paulaner weiss bier, I wanted something sweet..

This must have been the most expensive piece of Cheesecake I've ever had! 100 kronor for this saffron cheesecake with orange glaze. But it was really nice, I must admit.

måndag 9 november 2009

Red wine

This is my favourite red wine of the moment: Campolieti Ripasso (no 6792 at Systembolaget). Perfect for those days/nights when you are staying in, eating a good meal and watching a movie.

Wintertime

Lately I've been freezing my butt of in the windy, wet and cold weather that is upon us now. My wool-jacket doesn't quite do the trick anymore. So I bought this coat from Elvine... you like?

New blog?

I'm thinking about creating another blog... a more serious one that I can use as a digital CV, portfolio and so on. Since I know from experience it's so hard to design one of your own. You can never decide on a layout. I've made millions thru out the years. How do you feel about this one? Professional enough?

Yum!

I love weekends! It is the time for luxury and laziness. This Saturday I joined Jenny and Sanna at Patisserie David for some breakfast. They make the most wonderful pastries ever! Don't worry, mum. I ate a sandwich before the dessert.

I say NO!

I say no. I say no to pirate boots. I say no to pirate boots and leggings. I say no to guys with long hair, tied up in a bundle. I say no to girls with low-cut jeans. I say no to guys with not enough hair growth to acually call it a mustach. I say no to people with ironic, retro glasses. I could go on saying no but you get the point...

Fornasetti

I just figured out what my apartment needs now! Fornasetti plates!!
Piero Fornasetti was an Italian painter, sculptor, interior decorator and engraver. He lived most of life in Milan, attending the Brera Art Academy from 1930-32 when he was expelled for insubordination. During World War II, he went into exile in Switzerland from 1943-46. He created more than 11,000 items, many featuring the face of a woman, operatic soprano Lina Cavalieri, as a motif. Fornasetti found her face in a 19th century magazine. Now I just have to figure out which variation I want...

Week 41

After a crappy week at work what more can you do than gather a few friends and go out to eat? On friday evening, I thought it would be a great idea to introduce the neighbourhood restaurant, Anytime.

This is what some of us had: wild duck with bacon and hazelnuts. And of course apple pie for dessert. Happy and full, my brother and I went to inkonst to celebrate two friends joint birthday party. But with a severe case of food-coma, I went home earlier than I use to.

On Saturday evening, the zombies called out from the Norweigan wilderness. Or maybe not... The movie did anyways. Död snö (dead snow), with the best tag line ever: Ein, zwei, die!

And then came Sunday...

I got my socks rocked off by the Eagles of Death Metal concert at KB. They were great! I've never seen a happier crowd.

Irving Penn

This week one of my favourite photographers passed away. Irving Penn, most known for his glamour photography in the 1950s, was a huge influence on me when I studied photography at the art school. His eye for detail and the way he arranged a set amazed me (and sadly lost on me, never had the patience).

Easy home renewal

Yesterday I bought some fabric from IKEA. The collection, a set of five different patterns, is called ANNAMOA and is designed by Lotta Kühlhorn. Lotta is very well knowned for her illustrations and bookcover designs. Have a look at her website: http://www.lottakuhlhorn.se/first.php
Here's one image of, what I think is my favourite pattern. I can't really decide.

Week 40

Inspired by some of my favourite bloggers, I'm now gonna try to sum up my weekend. I apologize in forehand for the bad quality of the images...

On friday, we went to a fairly new bar called Belle Epoque (love the name). It's owned by an ex-collegue of mine and a few of his friend. Simply loved the atmosphere. What should have been a quick beer after work turned out to an all nighter. Martin had to throw us out.

On Saturday, I went to a friends flat for a "small" birthday party. I should have known; there's nothing small about his parties! A very brave croud of people defied the weather and made their way thru the streets of Malmö. It was a blast! I went to bed 06.30 early sunday morning. Needless to say I spent the whole Sunday on the sofa not regreting a single thing!

Home sweet home

After 24 hours on the train, I'm finally home in a windswept Malmö. Venice was really nice, we had amazing weather the whole week, sun and about 25 degrees. Today is a day full of unpacking, getting all photos organized and rest. Welldeserved rest...

Venice or bust! pt 3

Staring out at sea. I already feel that I'm going to miss the ocean and the closeness to water. It's such a joy to wake up every morning to the sound of motorboats on the small canal just outside of our hotel. One thing I'm not gonna miss is the mosquitos! I'm completely covered in bites. The one on the sole of my foot is especially annoying!

Venice or bust! pt 1

This is me at six o´clock in the morning at the trainstation in Berlin. Not the freshest face you´ve ever seen, can't sleep on trains. This was the first stop on our trip to Venice. It took another 18 hours by train to reach our final destination.

fredag 18 september 2009

So I'm off...

Tonight I'm leaving for Venice, Italy. I'm really looking forward to it. My cameras are loaded, batteries charged and passport located. All I have to do now, is pack my bag (which is not easy, believe me). I probably wont be able to update my blogs but I'll make it up to you when I get back. See you in 9 days!

Solvei pt.2

A couple of weeks ago I got a visit from baby Solvei (and her mum and dad of course). She has grown up so fast (check out the February post) and she's absolutely delightful. Hopefully it won't take too long before I see her again.

Picking plums

On a very slow day at work, a collegue suggested we would come to her house for lunch and plums. It was great to get out of the building for a while.
Jenny and Christian

Christian found a plum that looked like a butt :)

The guys got tired of picking plums and started to goof around.

Venice

My two weeks vacation is almost at its end and I can't wait until September. I'm going to Venice with Darling Mum. This is a picture of the hotel we're going to stay at. I can't wait!! Since shopping is out of the question (Italians are sooo petite) I'm planning to eat my self into a coma! Does anyone have any other suggestion on what to do when I'm there?

PartilleJohnny

Lately I've been noticing a new trend amongst the teens. Colourful rubberbands around the calf all the way up to the knee and somethimes finiched off by a bandana. In this case, the girl to the left has a bandana tied around her thigh. This phenomena is called "Partille-Johnny". To be a full-blown Partille-Johnny you need a pair of oversized Evisu-jeans (preferbly with the logo all over the back pockets), a huge amount of selftanning lotion, spikey hair and, of course rubber bands.
I found this most amazing image in this Facebook-group. I can't remember if we hade something like this when we grew up... Did we??
